Explore Husthwaite

Husthwaite is a great base for exploring the are, with a fair few reasons to stay local! We have a 12th century church only a few strides away; and the apple orchards around the village produce the local cider, which is made 300 yards from Plum & Partridge. Of course, you can also try it here.

There is lots to do locally, too. Horse riding, cycling, golf and shooting are all hobbies you can indulge in. A little further out and you’ll find Ampleforth Manor, Helmsley, Rievaulx Abbey, York and Thirsk.

St.Nicholas Church

The parish church of St.Nicholas stands at the focal point of the lovely village of Husthwaite. Of simple Norman construction, a number of original features can still be seen today.

Parts of the Church date back to the 12thC and the churchyard contains gravestones spanning four centuries. It includes the village war memorial.

Rievaulx Abbey

Escape to this tranquil valley of the North York Moors and discover the impressive ruins of one of England’s most powerful Cistercian monasteries.

York

Imagine a city with Roman roots and a Viking past, where ancient walls surround contemporary independent shops and vibrant eateries and there’s a festival for every month of the year.

Helmsley

Helmsley is the only market town in the North York Moors National Park where you’ll find fascinating attractions including the National Centre for Birds of Prey, Helmsley Castle and a brewery.

Thirsk

Thirsk has a charm of its own, essentially unchanged and uninfluenced by the world. It centres around a bustling cobbled market square, dominated by the town clock, with its Monday & Saturday markets and independent shopping.

Black Sheep Brewery

Visit the Brewery, take tours and sample ales from the Black Sheep Brewery in Masham.
